The Burning Monkey Development Team would like to thank you for playing our solitaire game. We've worked very hard on it; so hard in fact that we pulled numerous groin muscles during the making of it. While they may not have actually been our groin muscles, it nonetheless demonstrates, I think, a fanatical devotion to this project.
It is just this fanaticism that we are now asking you to reward. Anyone can make "useful" software, or software that "serves some purpose" or even software that doesn't seem "dangerous" and "mildly insane" or software that doesn't make your mother say "why don't you get a job like your cousin Harold the lawyer and start supporting yourself and while you're at it you can stop coming over here and stealing rolls of toilet paper-" but I digress...
We're only asking for $14.95 which is certainly not a huge sum; a few Happy Meals, a movie and popcorn, that mound of change under your teal velour sofa cushions... If only everyone in the developed world would agree to give us just 1% of their yearly income, we could dispense with this shareware fee thing altogether. Sadly, we've only signed up three people for our "1% For Freeverse" campaign, two of whom it turns out are wards of the State while the third now claims that he was legally intoxicated when he signed the letter of intent. So it looks like we'll have to keep asking you to pay your shareware fees.
Please, don't make us get real jobs. Do you really want us having anything to do with your personal finance programs? Or working on the new updates to the Ebola Containment Software at the Center for Disease Control? I didn't think so. When you look at it that way, $14.95 seems awfully cheap for a little peace of mind. So do the right thing, make a kid smile, and send us an email with your credit card number.
